Job Description:

A rural, coastal health system in Alaska is seeking a new Chief of Human Resources Officer to be responsible for the planning, organizing, and implementing of human resources and safety functions while ensuring consistent compliance with policies and procedures. This position would report to the CEO.   Prior hospital experience is required with a PHR or SPHR. $150-250K salary, relocation assistance, and phenomenal benefits are being offered (including free Blue Cross healthcare).   Prior tribal experience is a plus!


Qualifications for the Chief Human Resources Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three to five years progressive human resources
    experience.
  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred.
  • PHR certification required, SPHR certification desired.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Supervisory safety experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities for the Chief of HR Position:

  • Alaska Native hire, employee retention and termination, exit interviews, training, overtime, and succession planning.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with the Board of Directors and its committees, his/her staff, other health system employees, contractors, and consultants.
  • Initiates and develops personnel and managerial policies and procedures.
  • Informs employees of policies, procedures, and programs through handbooks, memos, and various meetings.
  • Plans and administers the compensation program to include performance evaluation.
  • Monitors the performance evaluation system.
  • Assesses benefit programs and recommends changes as needed.
  • Directs day-to-day operation of employee benefit programs.
  • Monitors the recruitment, selection, and retention process.
  • Plans and conducts New Employee Orientation and Annual Trainings.
  • Investigates and resolves employee disputes.
