Join Our Team as a Director of Nursing (DON)

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead a mid-sized skilled nursing/long-term care (LTC) facility. In this direct-hire, full-time position, you will oversee and support a team of 25+ nursing care staff while ensuring survey readiness, compliance, and the highest quality of care for residents. Job Responsibilities as the Director of Nursing (DON):

As the Director of Nursing (DON), you will:

  • Leadership & Oversight: Lead a team of 25+ nursing care staff, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure continuous survey readiness and regulatory compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Budget & Staffing: Formulate and manage the annual department budget, oversee staffing, and ensure effective use of the scheduling system.
  • Patient Care & Safety: Oversee the comprehensive assessment, care planning, and intervention process to ensure resident needs are met.
  • Quality Assurance: Lead Quality Assurance (QA) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes and participate in audits, reviews, and performance tracking.
  • Technology Management: Oversee the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, ensuring accurate documentation, staff training, and retrieval management.
  • Policy Implementation: Create and maintain policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with regulations.
  • Clinical Support: Assist with admission assessments, care plan development, and ongoing review of patient care.
  • Staff Development: Supervise, train, and support nurses and technical staff, ensuring adequate staffing, mentorship, and professional growth.
  • Incident Reporting: Promptly report and investigate issues related to patient safety, abuse, neglect, or changes in condition, and communicate updates to family members.
  • Family & Resident Advocacy: Promote a culture that prioritizes resident choice, dignity, and rights, and ensure families remain informed of patient care updates.

Minimum Job Requirements for the Director of Nursing (DON):

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (RN required).
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a skilled nursing, LTC, or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure for the state of practice is required.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPR/BLS certification required.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $38.00 - $63.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
  • Sign-On Bonus: Available to qualified candidates.
