Job Description:
The Mineo & Salcedo Law Firm is a growing law firm in Davie seeking a full-time legal assistant/paralegal with litigation experience and who possesses the following:

- Strong foundation in litigation procedures including: e-filing procedures, litigation stages and processes, form and content of pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation
- Experience preparing notices and other legal documents and correspondence
- Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency through prioritizing and following through on commitments; persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles that impact goal achievement
- Identifies and communicates when a decision needs to be made; ensures consistent follow up; obtains, organizes and analyzes relevant data and ideas; all steps necessary to achieve results and consistently follows these steps
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining the electronic case file
- Assist in preparation, formatting, drafting pleadings, notices and other legal documents and correspondence
- Ensuring that filings are accurate, properly formatted and timely filed and served through the ePortal – various counties
- Maintaining attorney calendars and case timetable
- Coordinating, scheduling and calendaring of all court hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, trials, property inspections, among other events and deadlines
- Assumption of responsibility for attorney’s calendar such that candidate will provide attorney with reminders and advanced notice of pending items in order to ensure all deadlines are timely met
- Communication with clients, judicial assistants, opposing counsel and court staff
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of Civil Litigation experience
- Knowledge of court procedures
- Knowledge of legal terminology
- Knowledge of the County and State systems and filings
- Experience with online scheduling, scheduling hearings, depositions and trials
- Ability to multi-task with a high level of organizational skills
- Excellent grammar (verbal and written), proof-reading and listening skills
- Possess a high level of accuracy with attention to detail
- Ability to prepare, edit and finalize pleadings, notices, and other legal documents
- Perform duties in a timely manner and ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Internet Tools, Outlook, Word Perfect, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Westlaw
Hours are full-time 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one hour lunch.
Salary will be based on experience.
