Job Description:

Our client located in the Beautiful Central California is seeking an experienced Charge Nurse for Pediatric General Medical Unit.

Graduate from accredited nursing program with a Bachelor's degree in nursing or other field, BSN is strongly preferred. Pediatric experience is preferred.   BLS and PEARS within 12 months of hire.      

2+ years of clinical nursing experience.

Position Summary for the Charge RN Pediatric Medical Unit:

This position is accountable for managing the overall operations of a defined patient care unit during an assigned shift. The incumbent is accountable for monitoring, evaluation, and directing patient care provided by staff, coordinating activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members. The incumbent will assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluating staff competency and evaluating, coaching, and counseling assigned staff in concert with the Manager/Supervisor. This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's policies.

The Pediatric General Medical Unit, also known as Discovery, is a 35-bed, acute care medical unit. General duty nursing care is provided to the acutely ill pediatric patient on Discovery. Primary population served include GI patients, Infectious Diseases, Metabolic Diagnosis, and acute viral illnesses. Patient Care Services are provided utilizing the LEGACY care delivery model of care. The RN delivers and coordinate s care in a collaborative manner with unlicensed staff, as well as staff from other disciplines.


Requirements for the Ped General Medical Unit Charge RN:

  • Graduate from accredited nursing program

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or other field. BSN is strongly preferred.    

  • BLS and PEARS within 12 months of hire.

  • 2+ years of clinical nursing experience.

  • Pediatric experience preferred.      

  • Bilingual skills desirable
