Job Description:

A coastal, rural health system in Alaska is looking for a Substance Abuse Program Manager to be responsible of the overall management of the Alcholism and Drug Abuse Program while overseeing staff to ensure performance is conforming with the established program guidelines.   A Master's Degree in public health, healthcare administration, or business management is preferred and at least four years of supervisory experience is required.   This person would also be responsible for promoting health and wellness within the community and surrounding tribes.

 

Qualifications for the Substance Abuse Program Manager Position:

  • Master’s Degree with clinical service in public health, healthcare administration, business administration, or management.
  • Must have four years supervisory experience.
  • Position requires demonstrated competence in program development, policy and procedure development, grant development, and budget formulation.
  • Demonstrated abilities in dealing successfully with grant compliance and/or accreditation standards.
  • Knowledge of the disease of alcoholism and substance abuse and its treatment is required.
  • Preference for a background in rural healthcare and tribal health.

Responsibilities for the Substance Abuse Program Manager Role

With the Behavioral Health Clinical Director this person will:

  • Develop departmental budget submissions.
  • Oversee grant management.
  • Mentor, coan, and counsel staff.
  • Coordinate staff travel.
  • Develop and implement community-based education, intervention, prevention, and treatment programs.
  • Participate in the implementation of substance abuse training for the staff.
  • Tracks and reports accomplishments.
