We are seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant) experience to join our esteemed group of 3 board-certified Cardiovascular surgeons and 3 Physician Assistants. This position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative team environment, providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures.
Job Responsibilities of the Cardiovascular Surgery PA/NP:
- Serve as a key member of the cardiovascular surgery team, assisting in surgical procedures and providing perioperative care to patients.
- Utilize expertise in vein harvesting and surgical first assisting to support surgeons during procedures.
- Perform preoperative assessments, including patient histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Assist with intraoperative patient care, including surgical site preparation, positioning, and instrumentation.
- Suture incisions, control bleeding, and provide wound closure under the direction of the surgeon.
- Monitor patients' postoperative recovery and manage any complications or adverse reactions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and continuity of treatment.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain proficiency in cardiovascular surgical techniques and practices.
Minimum qualifications for the Cardiovascular Surgery PA/NP:
- Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP).
- Experience as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) in cardiovascular surgery.
- Current or eligible to obtain licensure in Alabama.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
