Director, Laboratory Operations – Full-Time, Onsite (near Orlando, FL)

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide operational and strategic leadership for a large-scale clinical laboratory performing 60 million+ tests annually.
  • Oversee core lab functions and ensure compliance with CAP, federal, and state regulatory standards.
  • Direct technical and scientific operations, including planning, budgeting, and productivity monitoring.
  • Lead a multi-tiered management structure of 200+ clinical and non-clinical employees, fostering a culture of engagement, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Guide system-wide platform and process transitions, ensuring smooth technical implementations and change management.
  • Collaborate with executive and medical leadership to align objectives, improve service offerings, and strengthen operational efficiency.
  • Champion leadership development, succession planning, and continuous improvement initiatives across the laboratory.
  • Monitor and evaluate key performance metrics to drive data-informed business decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related sciences required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive laboratory management experience in a high-complexity, high-volume setting.
  • Medical technologist registry required (ASCP, AMT, AAB, or equivalent).
  • Florida Laboratory Supervisor License (or eligibility to obtain upon relocation).
  • Demonstrated success leading large, multi-site teams through organizational or technical transitions.
  • Proven expertise with CAP, CLIA, and federal/state laboratory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience in a dialysis or healthcare laboratory environment preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday schedule with no regular weekend requirements.
