Responsibilities of the Histology Supervisor:
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all of the functions within the Histology department including specimen preparation, staffing, training, scheduling, budgeting, maintaining supplies, and relating with the clinical laboratory, nursing service, and physicians.
- Maintain necessary files of slides and paraffin blocks while maintaining absolute certainty of identification of each specimen, block, and slide throughout processing and storage.
- Responsible for assuring the section meets all regulatory requirements.
Requirements of the Histology Supervisor:
- Associate’s Degree
- AS/BS degree in Medical Technology or related science.
- ASCP or AMT certification
