Job Responsibilities for the Director of HIM:
- Oversees record processing & completion, release of information, coding, clinical documentation improvement, and transcription functions.
- Ensures compliance with federal and state laws, and other applicable regulations related to Medical Records and reporting requirements.
- Ensures compliance with HIM department and hospital HIM related policies and procedures are in accordance with requirements of CMS, Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and other regulatory agencies as applicable.
- Ensures the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of medical records.
- Plans, implements, and monitors quality and production of department functions to best support patient care and hospital needs.
- Ensures established HIM goals/targets are met.
Requirements of the Director of Health Information Management:
- Bachelor's degree in HIM, healthcare administration. May substitute Associate Degree for acute care supervisory experience.
- HIM supervisory experience in an acute care facility.
- Proficiency in Epic HIM applications.
