Job Description:

A coastal, rural health system in Alaska is looking for a Clinical Applications Coordinator to act as a specialist in support of the daily interface between clinicians/medical staff and the Electronic Health Record.   This position offers a salary of $90K-$120K, relocation assistance, and temporary housing.   This position offers amazing benefits including NO employee contribution to full medical, dental, and vision. This is a tribal region that is best known for salmon fishing, winter activities, and summer festivals.


Qualifications for the Clinical Applications Coordinator:

  • BS, BA or equivalent in a health discipline preferred.
  • Two or more years in patient care (clinical, nursing, pharmacy, or Allied Health).
  • Two years of experience in medical informatics preferred.
  • Knowledge of patient care activities, knowledge of the hospital and village clinical environment, and how the different services interact.
  • Possess working knowledge of Cerner EHR software required. IHS RPMS working knowledge desired but not required.
  • Ability to plan and develop EHR projects.
  • Preference for a background in rural healthcare and tribal health.

Essential Functions of the Clinical Application Coordinator:

This person will report to the Clinical Informatics Manager

  • Implementation and support of multi-service software packages that automates the capture of clinical encounter information and its subsequent retrieval and analysis. Primary emphasis is on the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for hospital and villages.
  • Manages the customization of the software parameters and addresses integration issues with other software packages including Radiology and Pharmacy applications, Laboratory modules, MyHealth, Direct Secure Messaging, and RPMS. Includes day-to-day operations of the EHR along with troubleshooting.
  • Assists with implementation of new software products obtained by the facility that cover these functions.
  • Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow and serves as liaison between service lines concerning these processes.
  • Acquires a comprehensive knowledge of the software involved to determine the differences between process issues and system/application deficiencies. Assists staff in the efficient use of the current software.
  • Actively work with staff to align processes in Cerner and other programs.
  • Project management
  • Provide Cerner/EHR applications training for all staff and trouble shoot problems.
  • Help plan, design, evaluate, standardize, support, and maintain EHR.
